People often ask me why individuals, both young and old, serve so passionately under my direction. I believe that God takes us through processes which develop His unique anointing in us and upon us. For me, this anointing comes through serving Him in whatever capacity He asks of me, serving others out of my great love for Him, and by passionately leading others so that His destiny is fulfilled.
Reproducing, a reproducer is one of the key things I learned in this process. I am passionate about reproducing in others those things that God has reproduced in me through a few key leaders and servants in my life. While there have been many experiences that have served to form me into the destiny seeker that I am, there were only a few that taught me work ethic and an understanding of the destiny that God had for me. These key individuals formed in me a clarity of purpose and an understanding of God’s perspective on leadership and my role as servant leader.
My Personal Journey Into the Prophetic
The 60’s were the beginning of the prophetic movement. For us this meant the entire church body was called by leadership to speak in tongues. We would all speak in tongues – sometimes for hours – then the pastor would call for the entire church to go quiet and wait on God to speak to us. Back then one person would have the prophetic interpretation for the church body as a whole. An individual would begin speaking in tongues and the interpretation for the entire body would be received by another individual. It was not until much later that we were introduced to the personal prophetic and the revelation that we could hear the voice of God for ourselves and for others.
During the late 60’s my Uncle Don (Dad’s brother) was getting married in Chicago; this meant a family road trip. On the way to Chicago we stopped in San Antonio, TX to visit my Mom’s sister and her family. During this visit my Aunt and Uncle invited Bill Hamon, his wife Evelyn, and their children, Tim, Tom, and Sherilyn, to the family dinner. My parents and the Hamon’s became lifelong friends, and although I was not aware of it at the time his ministry began to influence my life from that moment on.
Bill & Evelyn began to visit us in Arizona after that and eventually moved their ministry headquarters to the Phoenix area. They would come to my parent’s home for dinner or a visit and my brothers and I would escape out the back door because we did not want a “prophetic word” but the Prophet would find a way minister to us anyways. He was always obedient to minister when and where God told him to. Even with the resistance of a young boy, the impact that personal prophecy had on me was life changing and the words spoken over me at the time touched my heart then and still resound in me today.
Gospels Echoes was an apostolic church, our pastor was very apostolic and prophetic, and we were taught about the gifts of the Spirit. Yet being at such a young age, I did not recognize what was imparted to me and how it would affect my future. I remember summer and youth camps and how we would go to the mountains for a week and the prophets would come in under the disguise of an evangelist or minister.
The Spirit of God would move and young and old alike would be slain in the Spirit. I saw and experienced things that actually freaked me out (now there’s a good 70’s term). I remember thinking “I just don’t know about all of this,” and found myself sneaking out the back door on more than one occasion trying to get away from God. Little did I know then how much of an impact this touch of God had on my life. It is still one of the most profound memories that I have of the Spirit of God moving and the beginning of the prophetic movement.
In the early 70’s my sister Patti, the oldest sibling, married her best friend’s cousin and after the birth of their first child followed him to live on the family’s land in Covington, TN. I was at a difficult time in my life and went with them to make a fresh start. It was there I met and married my wife Waverly. In the 80’s Waverly, our daughter Brandy, and I moved back to Arizona and eventually followed my parents to relocate in Texas. In 1985 we crossed paths with Dr. Bill Hamon and his wife Evelyn again.
At the time we were part of a local church in the Plano, Texas area and Dr. Bill was invited in as a guest speaker. A good portion of the Kellett side of the family also attended the church so it was a joyous time of reunion with the Hamon family. Dr. Bill only ministered one night at our church, but I remember that night very vividly. It was a life changing moment for me and Waverly.
As he began to minister prophetically, I found myself wondering where and how he got so much information. The more I watched him the more I was “hooked;” I mean hook, line and sinker, hooked and I wanted to know more about the prophetic. I wanted more! I wanted to know where I could be taught to do the same. I wanted to know how I could hear God’s voice like that.
After ministering for a time, Dr. Bill did a one-on-one prophetic activation and somehow, he ended up being my partner. He prophesied to me that in the last days we (my wife Waverly, my daughter Brandy, and I) would stand amongst the prophets. At the time I had no idea what that meant, but it was evident to me that God used the Prophet to speak into my life. It was not until years later that I came to a fuller understanding of what the Logos Word meant.
That night a passion and need for the prophetic in my life overwhelmed me. Something was birthed inside me and I knew that I needed to find the answers. In that moment I knew this was the path to not only my destiny but also that of my family. Waverly caught the fire that night and we started asking questions of God and man. We were willing to move every mountain and overcome any obstacle that stood in the way. We became what I call, “prophetic junkies” or followers of this new movement. We were hooked
